I hope this means things will continue to improve. would have stayed out as the forecasted rain gets closer, but today is a busy day at work. in the meantime, enjoy this hilarious video of the loonies. they did this for about 10 mins until literally, a third bird had to come and break it up. UPDATE: Only went out from about an hour this afternoon. Wasn't too much goin on then, at least. Smalleyes only. Then I had a lil electrical issue to tend to in the Battleship...again. All is ok now, but this evening, I need a nap! Will be out in the am. lar

UPDATE: OK, so my lunch break was a LIL long. couldnt help it. i was catchin fish! no, nothing big...but at least fish! about 5 12"ers in an hour and a half. hopefully more (and more substantial) this evening. UPDATE: Well, still slow tonite...but still fish. I got two 12's at the very end of the nite, and lost one 15" earlier. I got mine on the JSRs, but I talked to two guides out there, and they both said that their equally impressive creels were comin off of jigs. lar [Read report from this day in 2007: 05:52 PM] g8ts, August 26, 2008 - 7:27 PM: Chippewa Flowage Report from lg3Then-Current Conditions - 63.0F / 17.2C | Clear - 9:20 AM CDT Aug. 26 | LRGRAF Forecast: 5Fifteen cases of Mutt at the Lodge, fifteen cases of Mutt AND.... I hear the bite is slow, but slow is so much better than no bite at all. I was hoping to get up to the Flowage at least six times this summer. Sadly, this is trip No. 4, my first since the end of June. Larry - the wife and I will be at our familiar spot in G6 jigging and slipping on Sunday afternoon. If you're bored, feel free to join us. Greg Thelen and I got a few more this evening.. one 14", also four or five 12ers. The crazy jig worked again for the one keeper walleye, but Greg's jig and crawler brought in all the other walleye, as well as a handful of bluegill, crappie and perch. we fished the same hump I fished earlier. tried a few others that sure seemed like they'd be just as "good", but couldnt find a thing at them. still not finding the bigger fish. oh well, as I mentioned to Greg, in the midst of a spell like this, there is satisfaction in finding ANYTHING. more tomorrow lar [Chippewa Flowage Map Coords: h7] DannyMac, August 24, 2008 - 9:24 PM: lg3, August 24, 2008 - 9:26 PM: ![]() ![]() Chippewa Flowage Report from lg3Then-Current Conditions - 73F / 23C | Clear - 2:53 PM CDT Aug. 24 | LRGRAF Forecast: 4well, i finally found some anyway. went out for about three hours, got about 5 walleye (12-14") and 5 crappie (7-11"). found a deep hump (13'/20'). I anchored against the windward side and caught fish goin around the base. most all the fish came off of one particular side, where there was a brushpile/tree down there. i was losing one jig after another....about 5 per fish...when I got smart. not that this modified 1/16th 'n plastic will impress Derek (hey, maybe Fred), but this made it possible to wiggle it thru the wood, usually just by a soft bounce/lift. anyway, thank God it did the trick today. I got to remember what fish felt like! as far as what fish felt like: MY are they hitting light. I was convinced i was dealing with bluegill or something down there, til I started bringing the walleye up. couldnt tell the difference between crappie and walleye bites. don't think I've ever felt em THAT wimpy. they'd kiss it a few times, and you had to be lucky with your timing of setting that hook. I missed a lot more fish than I caught. anyway, more fishing and pics later. UPDATE: Frost Advisory for Sawyer County in effect until 8:00 AM CDT on August 25, 2008 p.s. MC, head back with the truck already. The lodge is out of cigs and I'm now picking your garden for food to eat! :)
